The FIDE presidential candidate Arkady Dvorkovich visited China where he held negotiations with Gou Zhongwen, the Director of State General Administration of Sports of China.
The meeting was also attended by Song Keqin, the Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of State General Administration of Sports of China, Zhu Guoping, the Director of the Board and Card Games of State General Administration of Sports of China, grandmaster Ye Jiangchuan, the Vice-Director of the Board and Card Games of State General Administration of Sports of China, as well as former women's world chess champion Zhu Chen.
The parties discussed the development prospects of cooperation between Russia and China in such kinds of sport as football, volleyball, hockey and others. But the discussion was focused primarily on chess. Both federations have been productively cooperating for many years: friendly matches between national men's and women's teams and "Matches of Friendship" between Russian and Chinese children are being organized every year; Chinese school children take part in the Open All-Russian school team competition "Belaya Ladya" (White Rook). Arkady Dvorkovich and Gou Zhongwen discussed new promising projects.
Arkady Dvorkovich: "It is always a pleasure to be back to Beijing, this time meeting the sport authority and the Chess Association of China. I appreciate the traditional hospitality and looking forward for the future partnership!"
