The French Chess Federation headed by grandmaster Bachar Kouatly organized a working meeting of the FIDE presidential candidate Arkady Dvorkovich with representatives of the European chess federations in Paris. Former world champions Anatoly Karpov, Alexandra Kosteniuk (both from Russia), and Zhu Chen (Qatar) as well as grandmasters Julio Granda Zuniga (Peru) and Pavel Trebugov (Russia) also took part in it.
The audience got acquainted with presentations focused on professional experience of several national chess federations. The meeting saw a lively discussion about the future of the European and world chess. The event was concluded with a discussion of Arkady Dvorkovich's election program.
We'd like to remind you that the World Chess Federation (Fédération Internationale des Échecs, FIDE, in French) was founded exactly in Paris on July 20, 1924. The International Chess Day is celebrated on July 20 in memory of this date.
