Ninth Women's World Champion Zhu Chen Meets Young Chess Players from Macau
The Chess Association of the Macau Special Administrative Region of the Republic of China held the meeting with Zhu Chen to share experience. The ninth women's world chess champion, who was visiting Macau, gave a brilliant simultaneous exhibition with 24 young chess players from Macau. The organizers were aimed at giving the chance to local young chess players to learn from the planet-scale grandmaster. This experience should increase their interest and devotion to chess, while the meeting should become a new step in promoting chess in Macau.

The meeting took place in the Pavilhão Polidesportivo Tap Seac and was attended by Zhu Chen, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Chess Association of the Macau Special Administrative Region of the Republic of China Zhang Zhaoheng, member of the Senior Management Lu Yonghao, coach He Haoming, and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Chess Association of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China Chen Zhengqiang, as well as more than 30 young chess players and their parents.

In the interview after the simul, Ms. Zhu Chen noted that the event's atmosphere had been very good and the participants had not only demonstrated a high level of play, but also showed their disposition to fight to the end. "The Government of the Macau Special Administrative Region of the Republic of China is actively supporting chess, many grandmasters come to Macau to share experience. It should increase the level of chess players from Macau, create fine perspectives to develop chess in Macau, and stimulate local juniors to study chess persistently and improve their play", she says.

Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Chess Association of the Macau Special Administrative Region of the Republic of China Zhang Zhaoheng said that Ms. Zhu Chen's schedule of meetings in Asia was very tense that's why there had been not so much time to get ready for the event. Nevertheless, more than 30 young players had submitted entries in a short time, and 24 of them had taken part in the simul with the grandmaster. The result had exceeded expectations.

To distribute the culture of chess as widely as possible, Zhu Chen is actively communicating with various Asian countries and regions. She has already been to Malaysia and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. After visiting the Macau Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China she is going to Singapore to continue her trip around Asia.
